ANC Integrity Commission

Political journalist Qaanitah Hunter says the ANC deputy president met the party's integrity commission on Friday.

The African National Congress (ANC’s) integrity commission has been interviewing several of its party's leaders implicated in wrongdoing with the hopes to clear their names in time for President Cyril Ramaphosa's Cabinet announcement later this week.

The commission flagged several ANC leaders as having brought the party into disrepute.

To discuss the ANC's integrity commission, Bongani Bingwa chats to Sunday Times political journalist Qaanitah Hunter.

We know that today David Mabuza is expected to be sworn in as MP, almost a week after he postponed his swearing-in.

She says Mabuza met the commission on Friday in an attempt to clear his name.

There are a lot of things that are coming out, like the process that was followed - like what put Mabuza on that list as it appeared that he didn't even know why he was flagged up until last week.

He went to the commission on Friday, spoke to them and presented his side of the story. It led to the postponement of Cyril Ramaphosa announcing his Cabinet.

Hunter adds that Mabuza met with Ramaphosa on Sunday and the ANC's top six met on Monday to discuss this issue as well as the finalisation of Cabinet.

The integrity commission is expected to submit its findings to the top six on Tuesday.

I do think that the report by the integrity commission is not only a report on Mabuza, but it is a report on all members that were flagged.
