Why more Joburgers are flocking to buy property in Cape Town

Pam Golding Properties reports that up to 40% of property buyers on the Atlantic Seaboard at the moment are from Gauteng, marking an all-time high.

The estate agency has recorded a strong migration to the Western Cape, in what is typically a high selling season in the country’s property industry.

Laurie Wener, the Regional Managing Director for Pam Golding Properties in the Western Cape Metro, has also noted a stronger than usual KwaZulu Natal presence in the Cape residential property market in the past year. She says that this trend is gaining momentum.

The 40% was an all-time high at the top of our season. Its not just rich people either. They are buying on the Atlantic Seaboard. Parents are buying for their children coming for tertiary education in the southern suburbs, in Stellenbosch and in the city. People are buying for investment as well. There is a tendency for people wanting to live in the Cape.
