The longest serving minister in post-apartheid South Africa shares what he has described as an 'incredible' 25 years.

Former energy minister Jeff Radebe has thanked South Africans for allowing him to serve over the past 25 years as he makes way for life after Cabinet.

As the longest serving minister in post-apartheid South Africa, Radebe has been at the helm of a number of portfolios including public works, public enterprises, transport, health, justice and constitutional development, energy and the Presidency.

He released a statement on Thursday afternoon following the announcement of President Cyril Ramaphosa's new national executive.

In the statement, Radebe highlighted some of the lessons learned serving under the likes of former President Nelson Mandela.

He joined Clement Manyathela, standing in for Karima Brown, on-air, to share his thoughts and more on what he has described as an incredible journey.

I feel good because I had very good innings from 1994. The opportunity that I have had, I can never be able to replace it. The experience that I have gained will remain with me from the rest of my life.

Jeff Radebe, former minister

For now what is important is that as a member of the ANC, I put my shoulder to the wheel to support my government, my president, my former cabinet colleagues, so that they can execute the mandate of the ANC manifesto of growing South Africa together...

Jeff Radebe, former minister

Radebe says it is important for members of the ANC and others to show their full support for the president and the new Cabinet.

I am still a member of the ANC in good standing.

Jeff Radebe, former minister

He says he has learnt to be humble and innovative in his years as a minister and has no regrets.

No regrets whatsoever, the legacy is there for people to see.

Jeff Radebe, former minister

Radebe remains a member of the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee as well as head of policy and says he looks forward to making his contribution in this capacity.
