ICC Cricket World Cup: Proteas 'firm favourites' against Bangladesh

South Africa lost their World Cup opener by 104 runs against hosts England on Thursday.

Will they get their campaign back on track on Sunday when they play Bangladesh at the Oval?

Daniel Gallan, EWN correspondent in the UK, says the Proteas are firm favourites even though the Tigers are fresh from an unbeaten tri-series against the West Indies and Ireland.

They're a better side than their 104-run defeat against England showed... South Africa firm favourites today - I would be surprised if there was anything other than a comfortable victory for South Africa.

Daniel Gallan, Cricket correspondent

South Africa's all-round leading spinner Imran Tahir, the only 40-year-old in the tournament, will rack up his 100th cap today, while Hashim Amla is still doubtful after suffering a head injury on Thursday.

They were going to make a decision on him this morning but I'd be very surprised if he does play... That ball that Archer hit him on the head was nasty.

Daniel Gallan, Cricket correspondent

Gallan says the Proteas can afford to lose three games, with one more defeat in hand if they lose Sunday's game.

He believes this could spur the side on to win.

I think that will galvanise the side. I think you're flirting with danger... that might push the side to sort their act out.
