'I was just doing what was in my heart', says Cape Town good Samaritan

When petrol attendant Nkosikho Mbele paid R100 out of his pocket to top up the tank of a motorist who stopped for fuel but had forgotten her bank card, he didn't think that his act of kindness would change his life.

Monet van Deventer shared the heartwarming story of her encounter with Mbele in a post on Facebook and created a crowdfunding campaign.

I didn't even think that there would be a crowdfunding campaign. I was doing what was in my heart.

He says he helped Van Deventer because he was worried and didn't want her to run out of petrol on the N2.

I saw the gauge of her tank and I thought I needed to help. I didn't expect anything, I was doing what is right.

Van Deventer has so far raised R400,000 for Nkosikho Mbele through a BackaBuddy Campaign.

When asked what he would do with the money, Mbele had this to say:

Only God knows what I will do with the money, at the moment I don't know what I will do with it.
