The hiking trail was closed again after it failed inspection.

Table Mountain National Park's (TMNP) senior section ranger Jaclyn Smith gives an update on the re-doing of the shoddy repair work done to the trail.

We had the path inspected professionally by the head of the trail organisation and we were quite pleased with the outcomes.

One of the aspects that we couldn't deal with at that stage was the two remaining ladders that are still on site. We will go under a process of getting those replaced so at least the path itself will be restored to a safe condition prior the intervention from that contractor.

Smith says there is a legal process underway to deal with the contractor who did shoddy work.
