Former news editor Rajesh Sundaram says then Oakbay CEO Nazeem Howa boasted about how they were friends with the former president.

The state capture commission on Tuesday heard about how the Gupta family used their friendship with former president Jacob Zuma to benefit ANN7.

Former ANN7 news editor Rajesh Sundaram told the commission that historic archive material from the SABC worth millions of rand was bought for far below the material's value.

Speaking to Joanne Joseph on the Afternoon Drive Show, Eyewitness News reporter Bonga Dlulane says the footage included that of former president Nelson Mandela.

READ: 'I used to see colleagues at ANN7 bowing before the Guptas, touching their feet'

Rajesh Sundaram went on to explain how ANN7 conned SABC into selling them millions of archive material for a throwaway price.

He says the Nazeem Howa, who was the Oakbay CEO, used to boast about how they the Gupta's were bffs with the president.

Bonga Dlulane, Reporter - Eyewitness News

They didn't have to bribe these people. They just bought them meals and drinks to make sure they get over two thousand hours worth of archive.

Bonga Dlulane, Reporter - Eyewitness News

Former SABC employee Josias Johannes Scott took the stand and said ANN7 paid close to R160,000 for the archive footage.

It was surprising for him [Scott] because they gave ANN7 a discount without asking for it.
