Impact of trauma on our psyche and how to heal

Eusebius McKaiser discusses the impact of trauma on our psyche and how we can heal with clinical psychologist Hayden Knibbs

They look at all types of trauma, from developmental trauma to a specific traumatic event that may have occurred.

Knibbs says clinically speaking the classical symptoms related to trauma is post-traumatic stress disorder.

The symptoms include:

  • Re-experiencing the trauma - including nightmares and flashbacks
  • Physical alertness and being 'on-edge'

It usually occurs around a life-threatening event, he says.
