Former minister of women in the Presidency Bathabile Dlamini is the latest Member of Parliament to resign.
Her resignation comes a day after Jeff Radebe and Siyabonga Cwele officially tendered their resignations.
Former Cabinet ministers Tokozile Xasa, Susan Shabangu, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba and Nomaindia Mfeketho also resigned last week.
Eusebius McKaiser says we need to give Dlamini a round of applause not for doing the right thing, but as a relief for the South African public.
Great news to start the day with: Bathabile Dlamini has resigned as an ANC MP.— Eusebius McKaiser (@Eusebius) June 11, 2019
Regardless her self-serving motive (pension benefits etc), this is good for governance.
She was a wrecking ball. Good riddance.
There is nothing honourable about Bathabile Dlamini's resignation, but we need to accept that there are some wins that we must take while we can have them. Every useless person that is out of Parliament is good news. You cannot replace her with someone worse. She was a wrecking ball and a constitutional delinquent. Whoever the ANC picks in the worst case scenario will be as bad as she was and the odds are they can't possibly be as bad.— Eusebius McKaiser, Presenter
He says the ANC and the country are ready to be led by women but not ready to be led by useless people who subvert the Constitution.
The ConCourt found that you subverted the Constitution and Judge Bernard Ngoepe criticised you when he looked into a probe about how you behaved in your previous portfolio.— Eusebius McKaiser, Presenter
