[LISTEN] 'Building a business is methodical'

Kaello Business Hub founder Tshepo Phakathi says building a business is a process and something that is methodical.

Phakathi who has been a serial entrepreneur for nearly 20 years says you cannot start a business sporadically and without thought.

He joined Azania Mosaka to share some pointers on the process of starting a business.

You cannot be starting businesses because you want to fulfil some sort of thing that you are concerned about or that interests you. Business is independent of what you like or don't like.

Then you have to see that there is a viable market in that space you are interested in without you necessarily being the market.

Research is a very difficult discipline. The biggest problem I have had in business is that I have made decisions based on intuition, it is a weak way of doing things... you have to make decisions based on data.

Tshepo Phakathi, Founder - Kaello Business Hub

What you have got to keep in mind in business is that you might start off trying to do one thing and end up doing a completely different thing. Sometimes the ideas evolve as you work and you have to be open to that, that is what makes great businesses great.
