Nxasana's testimony implicating Nomgcobo Jiba blocked at Zondo commission

Lawyers representing former deputy national director of Public Prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba halted proceedings at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into state capture where the former national director of public prosecutions Mxolisi Nxasana was about to present evidence implicating Jiba.

According to EWN reporter Theto Mahlakoana, Nxasana was prevented from presenting audio that implicates Jiba on the grounds that she was not afforded an opportunity to review the testimony.

It is the position of the commission that implicated members should be afforded an opportunity to review the testimony and cross-examine the witness.

It was decided that they should not only put the recording on hold but Nxasana's whole testimony that implicates anyone else in the matter.

Theto Mahlakoana, Reporter - EWN

Mahlakoana says although Nxasana could not delve deeper into his testimony he did manage to confirm that there was a level of political interference at the National Prosecuting Authority.
