Talks between civilians and military to resume in Sudan
The United States on Wednesday named a special envoy to Sudan to find a "peaceful" solution between civilians and the military.
The standoff between the military rulers who unseated veteran leader Omar al-Bashir and protesters demanding civilian rule saw a breakthrough led by the mediation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
EWN Africa Correspondent Jean-Jacques Cornish says there is a resemblance of hope in the air as the talks between the two sides are set to continue.
The talks bring to it that the military is going to make some concession as they themselves are hanging on for dear life. Everyone is involved in this, we have the Africans through Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and we have the Saudi Arabians who are supporting the military.Jean-Jacques Cornish, African correspondent - EWN
He says everyone is involved in these mediation talks and they could soon work.
