Three bodies of homeless men discovered in Pretoria over past two weeks - SAPS

Tshwane police says they are investigating the murders of three homeless men in Pretoria.

The bodies were discovered over the past two weeks near Meyers Park train station and Magnolia Park.

There are reports that a serial killer may be operating in the area.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela says they have warned the homeless and the community to be vigilant.

We have deployed our members, detectives, intelligence services , informers. We have also briefed the local community including the homeless people just to ensure that they are also vigilant and able to mobilise amongst themselves to ensure their safety.

Captain Daniel Mavimbela, Spokesperson - SAPS

Our responsibility is that of safety and as a result we are sharing safety tips with them.

Captain Daniel Mavimbela, Spokesperson - SAPS

We are not isolating our investigation to one theory where we are going to say there is a serial killer or not, because once we start to pre-empt the outcome of the investigation, that could limit our capacity and potential to arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators.
