Top US music producer in Cape Town for jazz workshop

He's worked with some of the world's leading singers and musicians including the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, former teen singing sensation Brandy, and British rocker Sting.

This June top US record producer and recording artist Prince Charles Alexander and several of his Berklee College of Music colleagues return to Cape Town for the second winter school programme held in Stellenbosch.

It's a partnership between the prestigious Boston school and Stellenbosch University’s Unit for Community Music.

The week-long workshop will focus on various aspects of jazz music and this year includes an optional hip-hop component.

We extend out to high school students across the world, there are about 40 different communities that we're in touch with in America, Canada, Latin-America and now Africa.

For school learners and their teachers, a one-day workshop will be held on Saturday 15 June.

For students in jazz, professionals, lecturers, teachers and mentors, a four-day workshop will be held from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 June.

The series will conclude with a free public concert at the Conserve in Stellenbosch on Thursday 20 June.
