Has evidence ever been provided in politician-poisoning cases?

Poisoning has become a common claim in South Africa's political domain according to News 24 journalist and author of Ministry of Crime: An Underworld Explored Mandy Wiener.

Several politicians including former president Jacob Zuma and current Deputy President David Mabuza have alleged that they were once poisoned but Wiener says there has never been proof provided for this.

We do not have any evidence of this so it is difficult o say

The only evidence we have is from James Nkambule, who was killed in Mpumalanga in 2010. His autopsy report was made public.

Wiener says most politicians who survived the alleged poisoning have received treatment in Russia.

The fact that they are going to Russia for treatment raises all sorts of questions about whether there is some kind of involvement by foreign power in these incidents.

Mandy Wiener, Journalist - News 24

What we know about Zuma and Mabuza is that it seems as though the source of the poison may have been closer to home.

It is all vague and there are lots of illusions inferred but nothing that is actually concrete.

The Institute of Security Studies went through the incidents of reports and there were no incidents logged over these time periods.
