Editor and columnist Peter Bruce says the science ministry needs to ensure South Africa is part of the revolution.

Tiso Blackstar Group columnist Peter Bruce weighs in on certain new appointments in Ramaphosa's new Cabinet.

Bruce believes the science ministry should not have been amalgamated with any other ministry.

Leave it well enough alone. It is the one ministry we can have that looks to the future, and not the current problems - but what South Africa might look like in 40 or 50 years time.

Peter Bruce, Editor and columnist - Tiso Blackstar

He says the fourth industrial revolution needs to be taken forward.

I know Blade Nzimande well enough to know he is not a scientific type of guy.

Peter Bruce, Editor and columnist - Tiso Blackstar

You don't have to be a scientist to be a science minister but you just have to have an appreciation of how much it can do for you if you set it free.

Peter Bruce, Editor and columnist - Tiso Blackstar

Bruce emphasises the importance of creating a science academy and attracting great minds in the field of artificial intelligence from all over the world..

We need to become part of it.

Peter Bruce, Editor and columnist - Tiso Blackstar

It can be done, he says, it just needs money.
