Lawyers want to know what exactly the Zondo commission will ask Zuma

Will former president Jacob Zuma appear at the state capture commission of inquiry?

It is reported that the commission has informed Zuma's lawyers that it urgently needs him to indicate whether he agrees to testify.

Speaking to Clement Manyathela on the Xolani Gwala Show, Tiso Blackstar specialist reporter Karyn Maughan says Zuma's lawyers have written to the inquiry and said any attempts to say the former president is not co-operating is unfounded.

He (Zuma) has continuously maintained that there is no evidence implicating him.

His lawyers say they want to know exactly what he will be questioned about.

Maughan says if Zuma doesn't appear, he may be subpoenaed but Zuma can challenge it in court.

The commission hasn't utilised that power and I very much suspect they want to avoid that in the instance of the former president. But if the standoff continues they may well need to utilise that power.
