What happened to the stimulus package announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa?

The president will deliver the State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Thursday.

In September 2018, Ramaphosa announced an economic stimulus package which contained five measures to help grow the economy.

Some of the commitments included investment in municipal infrastructure, education and health services.

Clement Manyathela speaks to Nedbank chief economist Dennis Dykes on the progress regarding the implementation.

In September 2018 there was a commitment to invest in municipal infrastructure. They announced an infrastructure megafund of R4bn.

There has been so many announcements but so little progress.

I think the difficulty is that taxation revenue is under pressure and expenditure demands are actually increasing so it becomes very difficult from a fiscal point of view to actually introduce stimulus.
