[LISTEN] Jacques Pauw and NB Publishers issued with summons for R35m

Former State Security Agency director general Arthur Fraser's lawyer says his client insists he has suffered reputational damage because investigative journalist Jacques Pauw's book The President's Keepers

Fraser is suing Pauw and NB Publishers for R35 million in compensation, claiming the book made false and defamatory statements against him.

In the book, Pauw wrote that Fraser could probably be charged with treason for a host of alleged crimes.

Fraser's lawyer Rapulane Kgoroeadira explains the kind of impact the book has had on his client.

As a result of this defamation...the value of the shares he held have plummeted as a result of the book.

It is our clients view that he is entitled to compensation for the wrongful defamatory action of Mr Pauw and the publishers.
