It's all systems go for the State of the Nation Address (Sona).

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation in what is set to be the cheapest Sona in five years.

It was previously announced that due to a harsher economic climate, there would be a cutback to a budget of R2m for the upcoming Sona.

Joanne Joseph speaks to Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo on the preparations so far.

We have cut the issues of dinner that we usually have after the Sona. We have also done away with the civil guard.

We have said that the Sona will still have the decorum and the dignity that we are accustomed to. We are still going to have the military parade and the 21 gun salute.
