The bank rewards innovation with substantial bonuses and pays according to output not hours at work, says Lesley-Anne Gatter.

We’re after a very adult relationship with our employees…

Lesley-Anne Gatter, Head of Human Resources - Investec SA

People should feel entitled… to look after themselves…

Lesley-Anne Gatter, Head of Human Resources - Investec SA

From September – provided they meet their deadlines – Investec staff members will have the option to move onto a new leave regime that places no limits on the number of days taken.

The bank will allow most of its employees to dress in any way they like, depending on who they meet during the day.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Lesley-Anne Gatter, Head of Human Resources at Investec SA.

Gatter said Investec would pay people according to output, not according to how many hours they’re at work.

It will pay substantial bonuses to workers who innovate instead of merely ticking boxes.

The number of days’ leave employees decide to take won’t affect their salaries.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and scroll down for more quotes from it).

Our culture… high degrees of freedom and exceptional trust… and delivery.

People must take [at least] 10 days leave in every cycle…

Some people do like rules, so they can stick to the old system if they want…
