Murder-accused Mpumalanga mother denied bail

An Mpumalanga woman accused of the murder of her four children has been denied bail.

Zinhle Maditla appeared before the Witbank Magistrates Court on Monday.

Maditla handed herself over to the police on 30 December last year when the decomposed bodies of her four children were discovered inside her house in Klarinet.

She has pleaded not guilty.

Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Monica Nyuswa says the NPA has a case against her.

The charges against her are of a serious nature, so the court felt that if the accused is released on bail she might evade trial or interfere with witnesses in the case.

The evidence that we have currently, I can say that we do have a strong case against the accused.
