Gauteng State of the Province Address
Eyewitness News reporter Nthakoana Ngatane shares details on the premier's state of the province address.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has given MECs 100 days to come up with concrete plans to create jobs, deliver services - including housing and water - and turn the province into the "Silicon Valley of Africa".

Makhura delivered his state of the province address on Monday.

Eyewitness News reporter Nthakoana Ngatane has more on the address.

The premier is trying to say he wants to see a province where young people in particular are trained.

Nthakoana Ngatane, Reporter - EWN

He says a million young people should be trained in Gauteng to ensure that they have digital skills but are also able to develop apps or programmes that will make government get closer to the people and contribute in other ways to create employment.

Nthakoana Ngatane, Reporter - EWN

Ngatane says the leader of the Democratic Alliance caucus in the province, Solly Msimanga, is not impressed.

He says not only has Makhura promised before; he is returning so he should not be asking for a hundred days to make plans. He should have met with his cabinet, made those plans and presented them to the state of the province address...
