Business and executive coach Dawn Klatzko says one of the things you need in your survival tactics is to practise diplomacy.

They are charming, self-obsessed, fluent liar, emotionally manipulative, completely lacking in remorse or guilt, emotionally shallow and callous, accepting no responsibility for their actions, impulsive, parasitic, fearless, highly controlling, vindictive, aggressive and intimidating.

Don't try and fix the people. You will get hurt.

If it is your boss or reporting line, the best strategy is not to be responsive as you may be. Be highly respectful, remain professional at all times and make a record of what those experiences are.

Klatzko says do not confront the people without a proper strategy.

They are very good strategists. You would be foolish to think they are not going to build a strategy and alliances.
