Ramaphosa meets embattled Lesotho PM Tom Thabane in Maseru

President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Lesotho's capital Maseru where he has paid a visit to the country’s King Letsie III.

He has also spent time with Prime Minister Tom Thabane who is dealing with a split in his party and has faced a motion of no confidence by some members.

Earlier this week youth took to the streets in protest at a range of issues including the Thabane government's "unjustifiable" spending.

EWN reporter Nthakoana Ngatane is covering Ramaphosa's visit.

I have spoken to some of the youth and they are saying they are hoping this time around it will be different.

Ngatane says much can be read from the President's visit to the mountain kingdom, simply by looking at his accompanying entourage.

His has brought his deputy defence minister...he has brought his security minister... and her deputy, he has also brought his advisor on security.

Nthakoana Ngatane, Reporter - EWN

What is happening (in Lesotho) could have far-reaching consequences for the security of the country.
