Deadly attack on migrant centre in Libya could be war crime, says UN

The death toll from the attack on a migrant detention centre of the outskirts of Libya's capital has risen to 53.

Six children are among the dead, 130 people are believed to have been injured in Tuesday's airstrike.

Refugees fleeing the carnage of the airstrike were fired on by guards.

The UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame says the attack outside Tripoli could constitute a war crime.

It's believed that most of those who were killed were sub-Saharan Africans attempting to reach Europe from Libya.

Absolutely appalling conditions they are living in and this is the deal the EU has to send migrants rescued on the Mediterranean trying to reach Europe and they're returned to Libya where they are treated abominably.
