Collen Maine and convicted fraudster Zukisa Faku resign from Parliament

African National Congress Youth League president Collen Maine has resigned as a Member of Parliament.

This comes after Maine was sworn in alongside all newly elected members of the National Assembly on 22 May.

Nickolas Baure speaks to Eyewitness News parliamentary correspondent Babalo Ndenze on the reasons given for the resignation by Maine.

It is not clear why Collen Maine decided to resign but from what we understand, he gave the same reasons as Nomvula Mokonyane gave, which is for personal reasons.

Convicted fraudster Zukisa Faku also resigned as an MP.

Faku was one of the controversial names that made into Parliament despite public outcry.

She was found guilty of abusing an official credit card when she was the Buffalo City mayor.

We do know why Mrs Faku resigned; it is related to those fraud allegations from during her time as Buffalo city mayor.
