SA tennis fans promised 'best match ever' from Federer and Nadal in February

There's been huge excitement from tennis fans across the country following the announcement two of the game's best ever players will take to the court for an exhibition match in Cape Town next year.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will do battle, for charity, in the Mother City in February as part of Federer's 'Match for Africa' series.

CEO of the Roger Federer Foundation, Janine Händel, says it's something they've wanted to do for a long time.

It has been a long-lasting dream.

You can imagine it was not easy to get to world stars in tennis down to South Africa and we're very excited now that the dream comes true.

The Grand Slam champions will be making the trip to South Africa fresh from the Australian Open, where fans will be hopeful of a showdown between the pair in the finals.

But Handel says whatever the outcome of that tournament, local fans are guaranteed a show-stopping spectacle in Cape Town.

I'm sure they'll find the energy for the crowds in South Africa to really show the best exhibition match ever in time.
