Philippi, Cape Town: 13 people killed in 48 hours

Thirteen people have been killed in Philippi on the Cape Flats since Friday evening.

Cape Town police launched an investigation into the murders of six women in Philippi East.

The victims, aged between 18 and 26, were gunned down at a residence in the Marcus Garvey community on Friday night.

Five men, between the ages of 18 and 39-years-old, were shot dead and another was injured during two separate shooting incidents on Saturday night, confirmed police.

EWN reporter Kevin Brandt outlines the details to Kieno Kammies.

Brandt spoke to residents who are angry that nothing is being done to stop the violence and crime, despite a visit from Police Minister Bheki Cele recently.
