Cosatu to reveal stance on ANC and alliance tomorrow - Dlamini

19 September 2016 1:08 PM
Cosatu President says issue of ANC leadership is on agenda today, but emphasises collective leadership rather than individuals.

The Cosatu Central Executive Committee meeting is underway and Cosatu President Sdumo Dlamini says the trade union federation will not choose individuals as 'Messiahs' when proposing the African National Congress (ANC) leadership for the 2017 December conference.

Dlamini says Cosatu's decision on who should lead the ANC will be informed by what constitutes "collective leadership" and what will unite the alliance.

Asked if reports suggesting that Cosatu supports Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa as the next ANC President, Dlamini said no one individual can determine the life and breath of the organisation.

You not gonna determine issues of leadership purely on the basis of one individual.

Sdumo Dlamini, Cosatu President

Cosatu approaches this matter in more broader and deeper principle. What is collective leadership. What are the ingredients of such a collective quality of leadership that will unite the alliance and that will be more bias towards working class demands.
