The City of Tshwane says it is ready to make representations to the National Energy Regulator (Nersa) this week following a battle with AfriForum over a planned tariff increase.
The planned increase of 13.8% was interrupted by legal action from AfriForum but the case was postponed when the two parties agreed to engage in talks over the matter.
Giving an update on the talks, Tshwane executive mayor Stevens Mogalapa says they have reached a consensus.
Now the matter is at the hands of Nersa to make their determination and we are quite confident [that] in the interest of the people of Tshwane and in the interest of ensuring good governance, we will find one another and we will oblige and comply with what Nersa would propose.— Stevens Mogalapa, Tshwane Executive Mayor
It is a crunching of numbers game, back and forth, up until after the pubic participation process where the final presentations are made and then Nersa does the final determination and the city can adjust accordingly.— Stevens Mogalapa, Tshwane Executive Mayor
