A “go-slow” at Transnet’s Port of Ngqura next to the Coega Special Economic Zone escalated on Wednesday, causing a massive backlog for Volkswagen South Africa (VW SA).

It operates a large plant in Uitenhage and is one of the harbour’s largest customers.

VW SA employs more than 6000 people.

Arabile Gumede (in for The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield) interviewed Andile Dlamini, a spokesperson at Volkswagen SA.
