[LISTEN] A taste of what you can expect at Buskaid's Johannesburg performance

The Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble, simply known as "Buskaid" by its supporters, has entered its 22nd year and has shown great success over the years, having travelled the world 26 times to huge international acclaim.

It’s the only South African orchestra to have played at the BBC Proms and was subsequently named as one of the world’s 10 most inspirational orchestras by the UK’s Gramophone Magazine.

Gauteng audiences will now get see the group perform at the Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg on Sunday 21 July.

The group joined Azania in studio for this week's 702 Unplugged.

[You can expect] varied music and hopefully people dancing at the end.

I know it is primarily music at Buskaid but we learn so much out of it. A lot of the kids that come through do not come from a solid unit at home...kids find a safe place.
