Rating the 2019 Ford Everest: 'This is where luxury meets ruggedness'

Motoring journalist Naresh Maharaj has just returned from a dream assignment - testing out the new Ford Everest in the Makgadigadi Pans and Okavango Delta in Botswana.

The 2019 version of the seven-seater features a range of upgrades.

Maharaj tells Africa Melane on Weekend Breakfast he got to drive the SUV on every terrain imaginable and it delivered.

This is where luxury meets ruggedness.

Naresh Maharaj, Motoring journalist

At the same time you are absolutely confident when you're driving through every type of terrain - potholes, loose tar, thick gravel, loose gravel, uneven terrain and even deep, soft sand.

Naresh Maharaj, Motoring journalist

Maharaj also gives the new Everest''s fuel consumption and price tag, full marks.

8.6l per 100 kilometres, that is saying something.

Naresh Maharaj, Motoring journalist

There is no other SUV that is capable of doing what the Everest does, at R500,000.
