Food Forward SA and Pick n Pay have teamed up once again for their third annual food drive. You might have noticed their displays at the front of their stores calling for donations.
It all culminates in a massive food-packing session on Thursday, and Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, director of transformation at Pick n Pay chats to Kieno Kammies about what to expect.
The response has been phenomenal. When Cape Town and South Africa open their hearts, no one can quell the wave of compassion and love that comes out.— Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, Director of transformation - Pick n Pay
Shoppers have been so generous, she says, and the donated goods have piled up.
It's happening nationwide across 500 stores and ends up in the packing events.
We ask the corporates, communities and individuals to come give 67 minutes in the spirit of volunteerism and help sort and pack these goods together.— Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, Director of transformation - Pick n Pay
Cape Town's packing event will take place at the CTICC from 9am until 2.30. The slots need 450 people at a time and places can still be booked here via Webticket.
