SACP and Ahmed Kathrada Foundation throw their weight behind Gordhan

The South African Communist Party (SACP) and the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation say Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan must be protected, insisting that he is leading the campaign to clean up state-owned enterprises.

The organisations held a joint media briefing on Thursday to raise concerns over what they say is an attack on certain ministers and whistle-blowers.

Eyewitness News reporter Bonga Dlulane was there.

They are basically saying it is a coordinated attack on public institutions by certain organisations and individuals who want to capture the government and they mention that they are seeing a fightback.

Mr Mapila was not mincing his words, saying [Public Protector] Busisiwe Mkhwebane the EFF and people such as former president Jacob Zuma are the people to look out for because Pravin Gordhan is leading the campaign to clean up state capture, saying that they know if we not protecting Gordhan we are all at risk of being swallowed up by corruption.
