Joe Mafela: Without David Masondo, there is no Soul Brothers

Stephen Grootes speaks to actor and musician, Joe Mafela on the loss of a co-musician and a friend:

Says Joe Mafela:

I must tell you, this is a great loss to the arts and musicians who've worked with him from 1974 til today. He was a very humble man. He was a number one choreographer amongst musicians. Without David Masondo, there is no Soul Brothers

Mafela comments that Soul Brothers created music that no one else in the country wanted, yet something that people wanted. The group was busy with their latest album - after producing over 38 albums over the decades.

After the sad news of Soul Brothers' lead singer, David Masondo's passing John Robbie spoke to band member, Moses Ngwenya.

The Soul Brothers has worked together for over 40 years. Asked if they will continue as a bad without Masondo, Ngwenya said:

We're still have to meet as a band members and with management. We think we'll continue with the name because it's a big brand and it's been there for a long time.

David Masondo passed away at the Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg on Sunday at the age of 67.
