Liberty is using Vitality without permission to sell their product! - Discovery

This is a competitor trying to utilise our product to sell theirs…

Hylton Kallner, Chief executive officer - Discovery Life

Whose data is it really? We believe the client’s data belongs to the client… What are the customer’s needs?... freedom of choice for our customers [to select any incentive program they choose] …

David Munro, CEO - Liberty Holdings

Discovery says Liberty is using its Vitality incentive programme without its permission.

Liberty claims it doesn’t need Discovery’s consent.

Liberty recently introduced it “Wellness Bonus”, cutting premiums of clients who are enrolled in Vitality.

It says it uses Vitality (and a similar incentive scheme by Momentum) for reference purposes only.

If you’re a Vitality diamond or gold member put it on your CV, put it on LinkedIn and put it on Tinder. It’s called status. That doesn’t mean we have granted a competitor the right to market a product of the back of our work and innovation.

Dinesh Govender, CEO - Discovery Vitality

Arabile Gumede (in for Bruce Whitfield on The Money Show) interviewed Discovery Life chief executive officer Hylton Kallner.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and scroll down for more quotes from it).

They live longer if they engage [with Vitality] … We’ve given them back huge amounts in incentives and rewards…

Hylton Kallner, Chief executive officer - Discovery Life

We would take it as a compliment… they’re attempting to utilise the infrastructure we’ve built up…

Hylton Kallner, Chief executive officer - Discovery Life

As a Vitality member; the health indications it gives are trusted… a lot more credibility than the Momentum product…
