'People abused their powers and authority,' SABC commission report finds

The commission of inquiry into political and editorial interference at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) released a report on Monday.

The report reveals explosive information including that former SABC chairperson Ellen Tshabalala and former communications minister Faith Mutambi gave instructions to editorial management.

To discuss the report Clement Manyathela on the Xolani Gwala Show chats to the commission's chairperson Joe Thloloe.

The report shows that Tshabalala went to a SABC function wearing the African National Congress regalia and when she is was asked why she was wearing such regalia, she then fought the journalist that asked her the question and the editor that sent the journalist to the function.

He says those are some of the stories that the commission heard.

We also heard that Mutambi insulted journalists when they went to cover a story she was involved in in Kwa-Zulu Natal. There were various instances where people abused their powers and authority.
