Johannesburg Water is working to restore water to parts of the city by Monday.
Residents in the areas of Cedar Lakes, Cedar Creek and Bloubosrand are currently out of water due to a pipe burst.
Joburg Water's GM of operations Etien Hugo shares the latest update.
Where we're currently standing, we removed the broken section of the pipe and the suppliers that actually manufacture the new fitting that need to be replaced should be finished with the manufacturing between 4:30pm and 5pm, then we will be able to start the assembly of the water main that is impacting on Cedar Creek, Cedar Lake and the Bloubosrand area.— Etien Hugo, GM of operations - Joburg Water
At least by 12 o'clock midnight, we should be able to start charging the lines and providing water to that section of town.— Etien Hugo, GM of operations - Joburg Water
Hugo says repairs on another burst pipe affecting areas such as Ivory Park have been completed and that the water supply should be back by Monday evening.
I can only apologise for frustration that has been caused and trust that the Joburg Water team repairs and restores water to the line as quickly as possible.— Johannesburg Water (@JHBWater) August 4, 2019
