ANC in KZN extends Zandile Gumede's suspension

The African National Congress’ (ANC) provincial executive committee (PEC) has announced that suspended eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede's special leave will be extended for a second time.

Provincial secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli addressed the media on Tuesday and said a decision on Gumede's future has still not been made.

Gumede has been on leave for the past two months on alleged fraud, corruption, and racketeering charges.

Today's briefing will either be to tell us that Gumede will continue as mayor or that she will not continue as mayor. Gumede will appear in court on Thursday to answer for those charges.
