Ramaphosa orders more downsizing of perks in ministerial handbook

According to the Sunday Times, President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent back the recently revised ministerial handbook.

Ramaphosa has ordered further cuts on perks for Cabinet ministers.

The ministerial handbook is the guide to privileges and benefits to which ministers are entitled.

Bongani Bingwa talks to Public Service and Administration Minister Senzo Mchunu.

We have had a ministerial handbook that has been in the making for nine years now and towards the end of the last term, the book got to the president's table for signing and then it was turned back.

He says those tasked to deal with making further cuts, are in the process of doing so.

There are prominent things that the handbook will reduce and those include the buying of expensive vehicles, which will ensure that we are not seen to be exploiting the last cent of the fiscus. We want to deal with the whole issue of transportation of ministers as well as security upgrades.
