Cape Town has been highlighted as the world's most desirable holiday destination by two different international tourism groups despite the levels of crime.
The city was listed recently as Africa’s most dangerous city by the Mexican Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice.
CEO at Cape Town Tourism Enver Duminy says while negative media can affect the sector, it is important to push out positive messaging.
He explains how the city has managed to maintain its status as a sought-after holiday destination.

How we have approached it to ensure that we continue to receive these accolades is about providing facts. I think when you have media headlines that are concerning, what we do is engage directly with travel, trade and media - both locally and internationally and provide them with the facts.
