Police seize guns, fake goods in Johannesburg raid

Police have discovered guns during a raid for counterfeit goods in the Johannesburg CBD on Wednesday.

The large-scale operation was carried out following an attack on police who attempted to carry out a raid last week.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Police Minister Bheki Cele shared details on the raid in a media briefing.

It is said seven guns, as well as three pistols, were recovered.

We recovered seven guns/firearms that will be taken for ballistics because the owner claims to be a legit security company.

Bheki Cele, Police Minister

There are already some laws that have been broken - they are not keeping them in the safe. We will be processing them in terms of the law.
