Are smart meters the answer to saving water?

Does having a smart water meter to measure your water consumption change your water behaviour?

Cape Town made world headlines in 2018 as a major city on the brink of seeing its taps run dry.

Researchers from the Environmental Policy Research Unit conducted research on 105 schools in the Western Cape where they tested two behavioural treatments: information feedback and social comparison in the form of an inter-school competition.

When we do the intervention we want to see what kind of information leads to behavioural change and to what extent is that change lasting over time.
