African lion faces extinction threat

As the world observes World Lion Day on Saturday, the Africa Lion is slowly becoming extinct.

In the past 25 years, there has been a steady decline in the numbers.

Joanne Joseph speaks to Endangered Wildlife Trust's African Lion Database co-ordinator Samantha Page-Nicholson about new ways conservationists will use to be able to keep track of the African lion.

The lion is one of the species that is quietly sliding into extinction.

In the last 25 years alone, Africa has seen our lion population decrease by half, which is quite astounding.
