'Over 100 suspects arrested for murder, attempted murder and robberies in CPT'

Police Minister Bheki Cele says "Operation Lockdown", the code name for the deployment of the military around Cape Town, has been a success.

Eyewitness News reporter Kaylan Palm says Cele reported that they have arrested 806 wanted criminals and the apprehension of 20 notorious gang members.

She further says Cele said the police and military have confiscated 45 firearms, 1,036 rounds of ammunition, 78 knives and an assortment of drugs.

He said 104 suspects have been arrested for murder, attempted murder and robberies.

During their tracing operations, 806 wanted suspects were arrested for domestic violence and assaults.

On the gang front, he said 20 notorious gang members will appear before the Western Cape High court.
