Derek Hanekom sues Jacob Zuma for half a million over 'enemy agent' tweet

The defamation case is expected to be heard next week in the Durban High Court.

The controversial tweet came in the wake of Hanekom meeting with opposition parties to discuss a motion to remove Zuma last year, thus prompting the former president to respond on social media.

Clement Manyathela talks to Tiso Blackstar specialist reporter Karyn Maughan about the case.

Maughan says Hanekom's concern is the former president calling him a known enemy agent,

Zuma has essentially said Hanekom was an apartheid spy. This is totally untrue and there is no evidence and he wants Jacob Zuma to apologies.

Maughan says Zuma has opposed Hanekom's application and filed a notice of opposition at the Durban High Court on Monday.
