Earlier this week the High Court ruled that a ban on identifying the 22-year-old could be lifted.

Miche Solomon, as she is now known, was only three days old when she was kidnapped from her mother's hospital bedside in 1997.

Litha Stwayi from the Centre for Child Law explains the significance of this week's High Court ruling.

It's our client actually opting to reveal her identity.

Stwayi explains that only children who are part of criminal proceedings, as witnesses or child offenders, have their identities protected by the courts, meaning Solomon.

With her specific case, when she found out she was a victim of this specific crime, it was two months before she turned 18, but she was not a witness under the Criminal Procedures Act.

In 2015, the woman Solomon's believed to be her mother was sentenced to 10-years in prison for kidnapping.

A tell-all book, published by NB and co-written with local author Joanne Jowell was released this week.

Solomon will be talking to John Maytham live on Cape Talk on Thursday 15 August at 4pm.
