Mayor of The City Of Tshwane Stevens Mokgalapa says his office has responded to Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa)'s concerns over the water crisis in Hammanskraal.
Outa threatened legal action, demanding that the city act after it found the drinking water was contaminated with Escherichia coli, also known as E. coli.
Mokgalapa says the city conducted its own tests earlier this month.
We have conducted tests on the 2nd of August which has found the water to be compliant and the issue was the colourant of the water. What we are doing is launching the Temba water treatment plant on the 31st of August.— Stevens Mokgalapa, Mayor - City Of Tshwane
In terms of the drinking of the water there is no issue, the issue is in terms of the colourant.— Stevens Mokgalapa, Mayor - City Of Tshwane
We are trying to find a solution, that is why we will be engaging the human rights commission looking at their tests. We will also be engaging with the Department of Water and Sanitation and also engaging provincial government.— Stevens Mokgalapa, Mayor - City Of Tshwane
We are continuously testing.— Stevens Mokgalapa, Mayor - City Of Tshwane
